After just three seasons with the team, the Falcons announced today that they have released John Cominsky.

As the Falcons rebuild, they continue to trim the fat left over from the former regime, and the 2019 draft class has been a primary target this offseason. Kendall Sheffield was released not long ago, and now Cominsky joins him free agency. Kaleb McGary, who was also part of that class, didn’t have his fifth-year option picked up either, and Qadree Ollison is another candidate to be cut before the season starts. Looking back at that class, it was another complete failure by Thomas Dimitroff. The only noteworthy player from it was Chris Lindstrom.

In his first two seasons with the team, Cominsky did play in 23 games and flashed at times, but it wasn’t enough to impress the new coaching staff. He appeared in just four games last season, recording only two tackles. It’s no surprise the team has decided to let him go, given the additions they made on the defensive side of the ball this offseason.
