Zach Wilson's picture pops up on MLB scoreboard, prompting trade jokes

Zach Wilson's career with the New York Jets is widely expected to end, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's leaving the Big Apple.

The scoreboard operator at CoolToday Park — the spring training home of the Atlanta Braves — made an unusual error during the team's exhibition game on Thursday. The miscue will have fans wondering if Wilson is taking his talents to the diamond.

Jahmai Jones is a 26-year-old, right-handed second baseman from Roswell, Georgia. Wilson is a 24-year-old right-handed quarterback from Draper, Utah.

The two look nothing alike, so the mistake was obvious to ballpark-goers and social media users.

The question is, how did Wilson's face end up on the scoreboard in Venice, Florida?

The signal-caller enters an uncertain offseason after spending his first three years with the Jets.

New York went into the 2023 campaign with playoff, if not Super Bowl, aspirations, but those hopes were almost immediately crushed when Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1.

Wilson took over as the starter and produced inconsistent, mediocre results at best. The Jets went 4-7 in his 11 starts.

The former No. 2 overall pick finished the year with a career-high 60.1 completion percentage but just 2,271 passing yards with eight touchdowns, seven interceptions, and a 77.2 passer rating.
