Angel Reese continues to receive heavy criticism from former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III—this time made even more visible through his recent back-and-forth with fellow NFL alum Ryan Clark.

During their exchange, RG3 doubled down on his claim that Reese “hates” Caitlin Clark, which didn’t sit well with Ryan. In fact, the remark pushed him to join a growing list of Black voices questioning Griffin’s identity and loyalty to the Black community.

On Monday, Shaquille O’Neal reposted Ryan Clark’s pointed message for the former Washington quarterback on Instagram.

“RG3 has a strange fascination with Angel Reese, or a connection to that spotlight it brings him … but this one was easy,” Ryan said. “He posted a graphic I didn’t see anywhere else of Angel as a Monkey. Just say, ‘That’s wrong!'”

Clark didn’t stop there. He continued to blast Griffin for allegedly lying about having insider access to Reese’s circle and for his inconsistent support of Black athletes.

“He couldn’t,” Ryan added. “He pointed out that Angel hurt him, & then lied on her inner circle. RG says you’re wrong if you don’t support people that don’t look like you, but you’re also wrong if you never support people that do look like you.”

Griffin has maintained that someone from Reese’s camp told him she disliked Clark. But his credibility took a major hit after he shared a meme that depicted the Chi-Town Barbie as a monkey—something that only fueled the outrage online.

Despite the noise, Angel Reese continues to rise

Amid the backlash and drama, Angel Reese hasn’t missed a step. She’s become one of the most talked-about figures in women’s basketball—not just because of the Clark rivalry, but because of how she’s navigating everything that comes with fame.

Whether intentional or not, the Clark-Reese saga has pulled more fans into the WNBA—and Reese’s name continues to trend.

In just the past few days, she unveiled her signature sneaker, became the face of the WNBA in NBA 2K26, and earned a second straight All-Star Game nod. Haters talk. Reese just keeps leveling up.
