One of the most promising prospects to emerge from college in the past four years has been Anthony Richardson. He had a successful career in Florida, and the Indianapolis Colts were delighted to draft him in 2023. It’s hard to say he’s lived up to the promise, though, since injury has kept him sidelined for lots of games. Fantasy Football players need to project what the future has in store, though, so is it time to put faith back into Richardson?

Anthony Richardson 2024 Stats and Fantasy Production

Richardson had a couple of big injuries that kept him off the field for the 2024 NFL season. Therefore, his fantasy stats don’t paint an accurate picture of what he can do. That being said, the stats from last year don’t look great. The big thing that coaches and experts have critiqued with Richardson is his accuracy, and he only threw above 50% completion percentage three times last season.

What Richardson does have is a strong throwing arm, and that was shown in the big throws he had to targets like Joshua Downs and Alec Pierce. These home run balls came infrequently, though; Richardson threw for less than 200 yards in eight of the 11 games he played. On top of that, Richardson threw more interceptions than touchdowns: 13 and 11, respectively. Basically, his talent was on display, but without the accuracy and ability to stay healthy, Richardson couldn’t really show his talent on a consistent basis.

Anthony Richardson 2025 Fantasy Outlook

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (5) hands the ball off to Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (28) on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, during a game against the Tennessee Titans at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

There are a couple of reasons why the average fantasy football drafter might want to steer clear of Anthony Richardson. First of all, he might not get the job; Daniel Jones might be the starting QB for the Colts after the preseason is done. Even if Richardson starts, he has already had his pinky injured in the preseason opener against Baltimore. Assuming he plays the full year, Richardson would still have the uncertainties with his accuracy that he did before.

After calculating all that, it’s fair to say that Richardson might not be worth a draft pick at this point. He would, however, be someone to look for as a streaming opportunity. In almost every season, some player is going to get their fantasy quarterback hurt and might need to stream quarterbacks for a while to win their matchups. In a good matchup, Anthony Richardson would be a solid quarterback to start for a week when a more consistent option is on the bench.
