Bengals QB Joe Burrow provides encouraging update on knee rehab

Recovering from ACL surgery usually takes between eight to 12 months. Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Joe Burrow underwent ACL surgery in early December. He has a long way to go in his rehab, but the LSU product feels that a realistic target for his return is Week 1 of the 2021 season.

Burrow said Tuesday during a press conference that he feels his knee is at about 15%. He was unable to do much for the first few weeks of his rehab, but now he can do body-weight squats.

"The first two weeks were pretty miserable," Burrow said, as transcribed by Pro Football Talk. "I couldn't really get out of bed on my own or do untying on my own. But around week three or four, I was able to start walking on my own a little bit and it's starting to feel pretty normal when I'm walking around."

Burrow tore his ACL during a Week 11 loss to the Washington Football Team. He was having a solid rookie season until that point, completing 65.3% of his passes for 2,688 yards and 13 touchdowns against five interceptions. He also had 37 carries for 142 yards and three touchdowns.

The 24-year-old said the next stage of his rehab will begin in February when he's able to start throwing again.
