Bills to be most 'rested' team of 2022 NFL regular season?

It was learned before Thursday night's full NFL schedule release that the Buffalo Bills will begin their pursuit of a trip to Super Bowl LVII at the defending-champion Los Angeles Rams on the opening night of the 2022 season that will be celebrated on Sept. 8.

Even if the Bills go on to lose that contest, it could ultimately prove to be a positive for the perceived championship contender.

As Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk shared, the Bills are on track to have the highest "rest differential" among clubs for the upcoming campaign. Throughout the season, Buffalo will be more rested than opponents by a total of 13 days.

For example, the Bills will have extra time after Week 1 to prepare for the Week 2 home game against the Tennessee Titans that is set to occur in prime-time on Monday, Sept. 19. Later in the year, Buffalo will be on its bye in Week 7 before it hosts the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 30. The Packers play at the Washington Commanders on Oct. 23.

Following last month's NFL Draft, sportsbooks listed the Bills as the overall betting favorites to win the Super Bowl in February. Coming off Thursday's made-for-television event, FanDuel has Buffalo at +650 to be the last team standing. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are second at +750.

The Bills may start things off at 0-1 in September, but they theoretically should be feeling alright, physically speaking, in early January.
