On Tuesday, Stefon Diggs signed a three-year deal with the New England Patriots, but there have been a lot of questions regarding the exact numbers.
Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer broke it all down, so let's get into the exact details of the contract.
Diggs signed a three-year, $63.5 million deal, with $16.6 million fully guaranteed. He got a $12 million signing bonus.
It was initially reported that it was a $69 million deal, but he would only reach that number if he hits the incentives.
2025 - $18.5M
- Workout bonus: $200,000
- Base salary: $2.9 million, fully guaranteed
- Per-game roster bonus: $3.4 million total
Incentives: $4 million ($500,000 unlocked at 70 catches, 80 catches, 90 catches, 100 catches, 1,000 yard, 1,100 yards, 1,200 yards, and 1,300 yards)
2026 - $22.5M
- Workout bonus: $200,000
- Base salary: $20.6 million - $1.7 million fully guaranteed, $6 million guaranteed for injury at signing and becomes fully-guaranteed in March 2026.
- Per-game roster bonus: $1.7 million total.
2027 - $22.5M
- Roster bonus: $200,000
- Base salary: $20.6 million
- Roster bonus: $1.7 million total.
This deal also gives New England an out after just one season. It's starting as a one-year, $18.5 million deal, and both sides can part ways with the Patriots only losing $1.7 million in 2026.
If Diggs performs to the level that is expected of him, he can earn the most amount of money allowed in this deal. However, it also protects the Patriots considering Diggs is coming off a torn ACL that he suffered in Week 8 last season.
