Brian Robinson Comments On His Recovery
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Great news for Washington Commanders fans: running back Brian Robinson is out of harm’s way.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport shared Robinson’s latest Instagram post, saying, “Surgery went well! Thanks for the prayers! God is great!”

He was rushed to the hospital after he was shot multiple times Sunday after an attempted robbery.

He incurred non-life-threatening injuries but still received visits from team co-owners Dan and Tanya Snyder and president Jason Wright.

Robinson was also visited by team physician Dr. Anthony Casolaro, clinical psychologist Dr. Barbara Roberts, and head coach Ron Rivera.

Rivera said about the visit, “I just got done visiting w/Brian. He is in good spirits and wanted me to thank everyone for their kind words, prayers & support. He wants his teammates to know he appreciates them all for reaching out, and he loves them all & will be back soon doing what he does best.”

While his return remains indefinite, he could be back this season after suffering from gunshot wounds in his lower extremities.

High Hopes For Robinson

The Commanders selected Robinson in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

He won two national championships with the Alabama Crimson Tide and was also First-Team All-SEC in 2021.

He also set a school record with 204 rushing yards in last year’s Cotton Bowl.

Robinson will compete for playing time in the Commanders’ backfield with Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic, and Jonathan Williams.

Gibson is the likeliest starter among the bunch after finishing with 1,037 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

Meanwhile, McKissic had 212 yards and two touchdowns last year.

Williams had 17 attempts for 79 yards and a touchdown for the Commanders in 2021.

The Commanders will open the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 11.
