Browns TE David Njoku out at least three weeks with knee injury

The Cleveland Browns confirmed on Monday that tight end David Njoku has been placed on injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury in Sunday's 38-6 trouncing at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens.

Per an agreement between the NFL and NFL Players Association for a season held amid the coronavirus pandemic, any player placed on IR can return after missing three games.

Njoku, 24, tallied three receptions and, along with quarterback Baker Mayfield, was responsible for Cleveland's only touchdown of the blowout loss. The Browns have free-agent acquisition Austin Hooper, Harrison Bryant and Stephen Carlson as available options for Mayfield at the tight end position.

Njoku was in headlines last week when the Browns initially listed him third on the depth chart ahead of the game against Baltimore. He led the Browns in targets (three) among tight ends on Sunday.

Njoku reportedly requested a trade during the summer.

Cleveland also officially waived placekicker Austin Seibert and signed Cody Parkey on Monday.
