Carson Wentz struggled again in the Philadelphia Eagles' loss Monday night to the Seattle Seahawks, failing to give the offense any real momentum through most of the game while completing just 55% of his passes against a historically inept pass defense. His poor play caught the attention of Seahawks defender Bruce Irvin, who is missing the rest of the season due to injury but could not resist throwing some shade at the Philadelphia quarterback.
"Wentz is cheeks," Irvin tweeted, which, for anyone who is not familiar with that term, is a reference to the lower cheeks as opposed to the ones on your face. Basically, Irvin is saying Wentz plays like a--.

While that assessment of Wentz may be a tad harsh, it's getting harder and harder for Wentz truthers to defend their position as the season goes along. In his fifth season, Wentz has thrown 16 touchdowns and 15 interceptions, along with 10 fumbles, six of which have been recovered by the defense.
And in terms of being the leader of the Eagles, Wentz is not faring much better, as Philadelphia's loss last night now puts them behind the New York Giants and Washington Football Team in the NFC East standings. If Wentz can't even manage to win the worst division in football, many are going to wonder if he really is the long-term solution for the Eagles.
Fortunately, Wentz still seems to have the support of his head coach and teammates, and if he can get the Eagles a few more wins and grab the division, he may be given more time to prove himself as a franchise quarterback.
