The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a corresponding move after releasing Desmond Watson by adding outside linebacker Benton Whitley to their practice squad.
“Bucs are signing OLB Benton Whitley to their practice squad. He’s 6-4, 255, has played in six NFL games with the Vikings and Giants. Holy Cross grad, now 26. Needed OLB depth with Reddick/Watts injured.”
Benton Whitley recently attended the Arizona Cardinals’ training camp in August but was cut during the final roster cuts. He’s played in six regular-season games with the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants, with one pass defended and a fumble recovery to his name. Whitley entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, following a college career at Holy Cross where he racked up 11 tackles, 15.5 sacks, 26.5 tackles for loss, two passes defended, and a forced fumble in 42 games.
