The Los Angeles Chargers gave it all they had on Sunday against the two-time defending champions Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately for the Chargers, they still came up short as the Chiefs escaped with another narrow win at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, 19-17.
The silver lining for the Charges, though, is that star quarterback Justin Herbert was able to avert disaster after suffering a scary-looking injury in the second quarter. After taking a big hit from Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton, Herbert had to exit the game to get himself checked.
Thankfully, the Pro Bowl QB was able to return to the game and play through what looked like some sort of left leg injury.
The cameras caught the exact moment Herbert suffered the knock, and had he not returned to the game, fans would have likely suspected that the injury was more serious than how it turned out.

Left knee injury. As his left foot hits the ground there’s some twisting at his knee, you can see it in both views.
Hopefully just a mild sprain, worst case would be meniscus though he doesn’t appear to be getting much attention on the sideline now pic.twitter.com/CAsTJNE7gV
Based on the camera angle above, Herbert appeared to have twisted his left knee as he landed. It looked like he was grabbing the back of his knee as he was on the ground, which caused even more concern from the fans. So much so, that prayers started pouring in for the former Oregon star.
As mentioned previously, however, Herbert seemed fine after returning. He finishedthe loss with 19-of-27 completed passes for 159 yards and one touchdown.
Herbert isn't out of the woods yet. The 26-year-old will likely undergo tests after this game, and Chargers supporters will be anticipating an update from the team.
At this point, however, it appears that Herbert and the Chargers may have just dodged a bullet here.
