Chiefs' Darrel Williams, Tyrann Mathieu questionable vs. Bengals

The Kansas City Chiefs leading rusher, plus their three-time Pro Bowl defender in the secondary have not yet been given the go-ahead for Sunday afternoon's AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach Andy Reid seems optimistic on the status of at least one of the players though.

While Mathieu seems to be trending in the right direction, Reid said that the Chiefs limited Williams in Thursday's practice and they don't want his toe injury to "flare up", per Teope.

Mathieu was forced from Kansas City's divisional-round victory over the Buffalo Bills early after the head injury, but was able to return to practice on Thursday. "Honey Badger" led all Chiefs players in the regular season in interceptions with three, and fumble recoveries with a career-high three as well.

The 29-year-old also finished third on the squad in tackles with 76 over his 16 contests.

Williams was inactive against the Bills and was limited to one carry in the Chiefs' wild-card round win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He recorded career-bests in the regular season in rushing attempts (144), rushing yards (558), rushing touchdowns (six), targets (57), receptions (47), receiving yards (452) and receiving touchdowns (two) during the 2021 campaign.

No. 2 Kansas City will host No. 4 Cincinnati in the AFC Championship Game at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday.
