Chiefs' Matt Nagy makes bold prediction about Bears' Justin Fields

Current Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks coach Matt Nagy believes that Chicago Bears starter Justin Fields will "without a doubt" eventually play in a Super Bowl.

"You all saw it this year, what he can do," Nagy said of Fields, as shared by Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Chicago. "He’s going to continue to keep growing. However, you want to say it, whatever part of his game. To do what he did from his rookie year to this past year, it’s only going to get better from here. He’s wired the right way. I got to see him firsthand — how he studies, how he practices, his passion for the game. He hates to lose. He’s always been that way."

Nagy was Fields' head coach in Chicago during the signal-caller's rookie year but was fired last January. Playing under first-year Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, the 23-year-old led all quarterbacks this past regular season with 1,143 rushing yards, and he contributed 17 touchdown passes along with eight rushing scores in 15 games.

While Nagy is now preparing the Chiefs to face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII this coming Sunday, he admitted he "paid attention" to Fields throughout the campaign.

"We had a plan," Nagy added about what he and then-Bears general manager Ryan Pace envisioned for Fields. "Obviously, it didn’t work out for us. We also had a plan to develop him and to see him grow and work to his strengths. It’s hard to do that right away in the months and summer and one year. In fairness to every quarterback that is in this league, it is hard to be what you think they are going to be in one year."

As mentioned by ESPN, Fields finished his second pro season last among qualified players with 149.5 passing yards per game.

Some fear he'll never develop into a top-tier passer, so much so that they believe the Bears should consider drafting Alabama Crimson Tide product Bryce Young this spring.
