Colts LT Sam Tevi out for season with torn ACL

Indianapolis Colts left tackle Sam Tevi is out for the 2021 season with a torn ACL, according to ESPN's Mike Wells.

Tevi was carted off the field in Friday's 27-17 preseason win over the Detroit Lions after the third play of the second half on an interception thrown by Brett Hundley.

The 26-year-old was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the sixth round of the 2017 draft. He played for the Chargers through the 2020 campaign before signing a one-year deal with the Colts in March.

In addition to Tevi, wide receiver T.Y. Hilton also suffered an injury during practice last week. The veteran is reportedly being evaluated for an upper-back/neck injury and is expected to miss multiple weeks.

Backup quarterback Sam Ehlinger is also sidelined for five to six weeks with a knee sprain, and it's unclear if starting quarterback Carson Wentz will be ready for Week 1 after undergoing foot surgery earlier this month.

Indy opens the regular season against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 12.
