Cowboys Announce Concerning News Before Lions Game

The Dallas Cowboys enter Week 14 with an important "Thursday Night Football" game against the Detroit Lions.

Both the Lions and Cowboys are on the outside of the NFC playoff picture at the moment and are trying to get back in.

The Cowboys are coming off a 31-28 win over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving Day.

That marked the third straight win for Dallas after the bye week, so there is some momentum.

Going into the game, there is some hope that star cornerback Trevon Diggs can return after being sidelined since the middle of October with a concussion and a knee issue.

On the other hand, there are now some worries about Jadeveon Clowney.

Clowney was not set to practice on Tuesday, putting his status for the game in question, via Jon Machota of The Athletic.

"Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said DE Jadeveon Clowney (hamstring) won’t practice today. He’ll be working off to the side on the resistance cords. How he warms up before the game Thursday will determine if he plays or not," Machota wrote.

On Monday, Tyler Guyton and Clowney were both listed as DNP, and now Clowney is not going to practice on Tuesday, either.

Clowney was the No. 1 overall pick by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft after an outstanding career with the South Carolina Gamecocks.

He has also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers.

Clowney was released by the Panthers in May but signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys before the 2025 season. In nine games, he has 15 solo tackles with four sacks and he has been a steady force for the defense.

The Cowboys and Lions kick off on Thursday at 8:15 pm ET with the game on Amazon Prime Video. There should be clarity on his status by that time.
