The Dallas Cowboys' offseason has gotten off to a start, not a great one, but not a bad one either.
With Stephen Jones' "selectively aggressive" statement ringing in our ears, the "selectively" part looks to be coming to fruition.
No, the Cowboys weren't big players on Day 1 of free agency which was expected, but they have gone about adding depth at several positions that needed it, but for Cowboys Nation, none really move the needle.
Javonte Williams, Soloman Thomas, Kaiir Elam, Kenneth Murray, Jack Sandborn, Payton Turner, and Robert Jones have come in, while Rico Dowdle and DeMarcus Lawrence are at the big departures.
And we can hear the collective groan from Cowboys fans. However, all is not lost in Dallas's free agency acquisition market. There are still some viable options for the Cowboys to consider as they look toward another day to try and get some help in areas of need.
Want a 10-man list entering Thursday? Here goes ...
The likes of Will Hernandez, Tyron Smith (reunion?), Tevin Jenkins, Keenan Allen, Dante Fowler Jr., Stefon Diggs, Asante Samuel Jr., Mekhi Becton, C.J. Mosley and Rasul Douglas are all still available.
Oh, and yes, Cooper Kupp is available as well.
Cowboys fans can be forgiven for giving up at the prospect of a solid splash in free agency, but at least the franchise has been a little proactive in getting depth pieces in.
But again, we say, what is the point of creating so much cap space only to use a small portion of it? Unless a big move is coming, but color us skeptical on that.
Dallas' roster today is better than it was Monday. But "splashy''?
It has again been an underwhelming past 72 hours for fans who at least expected a little better than what the franchise has done, but there is still time.
And as we listed above, there are still some quality players without a home. ... our list of 10 and many more.
Will Dallas make a move for some of them? The Cowboys have $49 million reasons - their present cap room number - to say yes.
