Quarterback Dak Prescott's contract situation still lingers over the Dallas Cowboys. That doesn't seem to be a distraction, though, as he's reportedly crushing it at training camp.
Per Mike Leslie of WFAA-TV in Dallas, Prescott threw nine touchdowns during Wednesday's padded practice, which featured red-zone work, seven-on-seven and team drills.

ESPN's Todd Archer reported that Prescott has completed 30-of-50 passes through the team's first two padded practices and has yet to be intercepted.
He also connected with multiple targets. According to Archer, two of his TD passes on Wednesday went to tight ends Jake Ferguson and Luke Schoonmaker, while two more went to third-year wide receiver Jalen Tolbert. Developing chemistry with pass-catchers is crucial for Prescott, especially with 2023 first-team All-Pro WR CeeDee Lamb holding out of training camp as he seeks an extension.
This offseason, Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love (four years, $220M) and Jacksonville Jaguars star Trevor Lawrence (five years, $275M) reset the market with lucrative extensions. Entering the final year of a four-year, $160M deal, Prescott could top those figures if he signs a new contract.
In The Athletic's Scoop City newsletter, Jacob Robinson and Dianna Russini reported that the 31-year-old quarterback could request $60M per year, making him the highest-paid player in the league. Remember that his deal contains a no-trade and no-tag clause, giving him more leverage. Contract negotiations between Prescott and the Cowboys are at a stalemate. On Monday, Dallas executive vice president Stephen Jones told KTFM-FM in San Antonio that it made an offer to Prescott and is waiting to hear back from his camp.
He's still a key piece for the Cowboys this upcoming season. In 2023, he finished second in MVP voting after ranking first in the league in passing TDs (36 in 17 games), second in QBR (72.7) and third in passing yards (4,516).
If Prescott builds on his stellar start at camp and has another MVP-caliber season, he could earn a monster paycheck, whether with the Cowboys or another team.
