Cowboys vs. Giants Features CeeDee 'Body Language Watch'

You can accuse the Dallas Cowboys of many things over the last month or so, but lacking fight isn't one of them.

After the 34-26 win over the Washington Commanders, we've heard everybody from Micah Parsons to Tyler Smith to Juanyeh Thomas talking about fighting this season out to the end and rubbishing the "organic tanking" talk, and now we have another message.

Receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is dealing with a bushel of injuries, has made it abundantly clear that nothing on this planet will stop him from taking the field for his teammates.

It appears that with the loss of offensive leader Dak Prescott, CeeDee is taking it upon himself to be the one others follow, and in true No. 88 fashion of years gone by, Lamb made a bold and pointed statement - follow me.

“I'm banged up, I ain't going to even lie and that's just what it is, it's that that time of the year and in the season,” Lamb said. “I ain't going to get no specifics, but for me, the pride is unbelievable, I'm willing to do whatever to go out there and have my presence felt. ...

"I'm all for the team winning if you can't tell by now.”

Leadership is a tricky thing. The Cowboys absolutely follow Lamb's lead; he might be the team's best player. And in recent weeks, some of the "body language'' criticism has gone away. Lamb has been open about the bad optics of sideline shenanigans ... and in Washington last week in particular, he seemed upbeat in every way.

That is what has been missing since Dak went down with injury, and Lamb has made it a point to step up and be "that" guy for his team, regardless of how badly he's hurting and regardless of the "tanking" talk and regardless even of whether he's being targeted early or enough in a game.

Yes, he's banged up, as most players are at this time of year, but that isn't stopping him from going out and putting his body on the line for his team, regardless of the season's outlook. It's something to watch today.

"Organic tanking,'' you say? Not on Lamb's watch. "Bad body language''? Maybe not on Lamb's watch, either.
