The Dallas Cowboys have announced their initial 53-man roster for the 2024 NFL season. The initial roster comes after the Cowboys signed wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a four-year, $136 million contract extension.

The pressure is on the Cowboys to succeed this season due to what has happened over the last three years. Dallas has finished the regular season 12-5 each year from 2021-2023 and has not gotten past the second round of the playoffs. In June, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he felt good about the roster and believed this year’s team could do some big things. Below is a look at the initial 53-man roster.

Quarterbacks: Dak Prescott, Cooper Rush, Trey Lance

Running backs: Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, Hunter Luepke (fullback)

Tight ends: Jake Ferguson, Luke Schoonmaker, John Stephens, Brevyn Spann-Ford

Wide receivers: CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks, KaVontae Turpin, Ryan Flournoy

Offensive linemen: Zack Martin, Tyler Smith, Tyler Guyton, Terence Steele, Cooper Beebe, Brock Hoffman, Asim Richards, Matt Waletzko, T.J. Bass, Chuma Edoga

Defensive linemen: Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, Marshawn Kneeland, Osa Odighizuwa, Mazi Smith, Jordan Phillips, Linval Joseph, Chauncey Golston, Tyrus Wheat

Linebackers: Eric Kendricks, DeMarvion Overshown, Marist Liufau, Damone Clark, Buddy Johnson

Cornerbacks: Trevon Diggs, Jourdan Lewis, Caelen Carson, Andrew Booth, Israel Mukuamu

Safeties: Malik Hooker, Donovan Wilson, Markquese Bell, Juanyeh Thomas

Specialists: Brandon Aubrey, K Bryan Anger, P Trent Sieg, LS

“I’m more about winning the award for best way to win the season than winning the award for showing up at camp with my house in order. I’m more worried about ending the season than I am a fast start,” Jones said when asked about Lamb not being with the team at the time, per DallasCowboys.com.

Jerry Jones talks having a strong Dallas Cowboys roster

“I’m all in to having that game come out different than the last one we played. What I will say, when I look at our roster and look at where we are and look at the quality of our coaches, I will say that I like as much or better than any time, how we’re going to be hanging around the rim. So when we get to that game, we can come out with a different result. I think we’re very positioned.”

Jones added: “You have to be up there and around there, to have a better result. A big question, do you think you’ve got a chance to have better results when we get there? “I don’t want to sound and be trite about getting there. It’s a big deal. I want you to know, as much as you might criticize me for it, I take a lot of solace in having the 12-win seasons over we’ve had over the last several years. The fact we have the personnel and coaches that we have in camp. I take a lot of solace that we have a chance to go to the playoffs and do better.”

The Cowboys will open the season on Sunday, Sept. 8 when they take on the Cleveland Browns in a road contest. They will have their first home game on Sunday, Sept. 15 against the New Orleans Saints.
