David Pollack Names Best College Football Team Without Hesitation
Hannah Mattix/Clarion Ledger / USA TODAY NETWORK

This weekend's college football slate featured multiple ranked teams falling to lesser opponents, but one team cemented its place among the elite.

Then-ranked No. 7 Penn State lost 42-37 to UCLA, giving the Bruins their first win of the year. In the SEC, then-ranked No. 9 Texas suffered its second loss of the season, falling 29-21 to Florida.

While the score of the game between No. 3 Miami and No. 18 Florida was close, the game was not like that for the majority of the contest. Miami won 28-22, but dominated Florida State and jumped out to a 28-3 lead in the third quarter.

The Hurricanes secured their spot as the No. 1 team in a recent episode of "See Ball Get Ball with David Pollack."

"But first, Miami and Florida State," Pollack said. "I think that we've had a lot of debate across college football, rightfully so, like who's the best team in the country, and Miami had a chance to answer that question right off the bat against Florida State. They've had a really good schedule up until this point. That's why I feel like Miami is the best team in the country."

The Seminoles' offense woke up in the fourth quarter, scoring 19 unanswered points, but it was not enough.

Miami made a splash in the offseason following the departure of quarterback Cam Ward to the NFL. The Hurricanes brought in former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck, and he has looked the part so far.

Beck was the top overall player and quarterback in the Rivals Transfer Portal Industry Rankings.

Following Saturday's win, he now has 1,213 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions.

After Florida State, Miami now has no more ranked teams left on its schedule. The Hurricanes take on Louisville following a bye in Week 7.

Louisville-Miami kicks off at 7 p.m. ET on Oct. 17.
