The NFL will release the Detroit Lions schedule on Wednesday, and we can't wait to see what things look like. With that in mind, we're making some predictions ahead of the release.
We already predicted the Lions' Thanksgiving game, now it's time to talk prime time. Last year, the Lions had six prime time games, with five of them being scheduled ahead of the season and the sixth being flexed to prime time. We think they'll go that route again. Here are our predictions for the Lions' primetime games.
This one is so obvious. Dan Campbell vs Ben Johnson. Everyone wants to see it, and it's really hard to see the NFL just have this one be a 1:00 game. This is a game that has all the storylines you can ask for. The menotr vs protege, the divisional game, and the young, exciting team trying to knock off the big dogs.
This is a really fun matchup. Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams vs Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Who wouldn't want to see this possible offensive explosion? This is a mega showdown.
Here's the other mega showdown. The Lions going up against the Super Bowl Champions in prime time. We already saw in 2023 how exciting the Lions vs the champs can be. The NFL has to run that one back. On top of that, these two teas were constantly compared to each other ahead of the playoffs last year. Let's see how they play against each other.
I'm going to throw an extra prediction on top of this one. I believe this is the Lions' Week 1 matchup and the first Monday Night Football game of the year. The Divisional round game was a lot of fun for people who weren't Lions fans. I believe the league wants to see it again.
Every time these two teams get together, it's a fun game. Both 2023 matchups were a good time, and the 2024 one was too. I don't think it's Sunday Night or Monday Night good, but this has Thursday Night on Prime written all over it.
