Dexter Lawrence injury update: Severity revealed for Giants star DL

New York Giants (2-10) defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence said he dislocated his left elbow in Thursday’s 27-20 Week 13 road defeat to the Dallas Cowboys (5-7).

Lawrence, who exited the game in the third quarter and did not return, had his elbow heavily wrapped and in a sling after the game, via Jordan Raanan of ESPN. He knew immediately the injury was significant, relaying his initial fears to linebacker Bobby Okereke after the play.

“I think I just dislocated my elbow,” Lawrence told Okereke.

Lawrence went to the sideline where he had his elbow popped back in. He then walked into the locker room with a trainer. The 27-year-old will undergo an MRI in the coming days to determine the official severity of the injury.

Lawrence, the two-time Pro Bowler, is having a career year amid a tough season in New York. He leads all interior defenders with 9.0 sacks, to go along with 44 tackles (23 solo), 16 quarterback hits and a forced fumble. Lawrence entered the Thanksgiving Day matchup with 96 pressures when lined up at nose tackle since 2022, 19 more than the next player, according to Pro Football Focus.

He recorded three tackles (two solo) against Dallas before leaving the game.

“I don’t really know,” Lawrence said, “but I could play through a lot of things.”
