Does Geno Smith Want Revenge Against the Jets?
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets will see a familiar face when they take on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith was drafted by the Jets in 2013 and spent the first four years of his career with New York. Throughout his time on the Jets, Smith struggled, finishing with a 12-18 record as a starter, and throwing 28 touchdowns and 36 interceptions.

Since becoming Seattle's full-time starter in 2022, Smith has experienced a career resurgence. He was named the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year in 2022, and has been named to two Pro Bowls.

Prior to facing his former team in New York for the first time, Smith spoke about whether he's out for revenge.

“I've always had tremendous love and respect for that organization," said Smith. "Obviously, the team that drafted me gave me a chance out of the gate. A lot of great people there, some people that I was there with, a lot of those people are now gone. So as far as the whole revenge thing, that's not on my mind."

"Like I said, man, there's a lot of great people in that city that I still talk to and I still love and still support me and so it's the biggest game of the year because it's the next game," Smith continued. "But obviously, because I was drafted there it's going to be a narrative that's built.”

Regardless, Smith will surely be hungry for a win against a struggling Jets team as Seattle pursues an NFC West title.
