Many would think that, since the Philadelphia Eagles walked away with the Lombardi Trophy back in February, the hype for the team in the offseason would be high. Well, not quite.
Bleacher Report writer Moe Moton went through 10 NFL teams that are considered playoff contenders and used their betting odds to define whether the hype for them is high or low. The Eagles were right down the middle at the buzz meter, being a five as their +650 betting odds to win the Super Bowl should have them in the conversation, but it isn't exactly lighting the world on fire.
"Oddsmakers have given the reigning champions their respect. The Philadelphia Eagles are tied with the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills for the best odds to win Super Bowl LX and are favored to win the NFC East title (-130).
The Eagles have the best roster in their division and arguably in the NFC. So, they should win at least 11 games in a fourth consecutive year.
Despite the departure of offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to become New Orleans Saints head coach, Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith will continue to rack up points while Vic Fangio's defense remains stout in most areas.
The Eagles have a good chance to defend their title and repeat as champions."
Repeating as Super Bowl champions is always a tough thing, and it will be the Eagles' biggest challenge in 2025. They have the talent to get it done, but the emotional toll of running through the regular season and playoffs is rough on anyone.
With that being said, the offense has 10 of its 11 starters back from last season, which means nothing should change there. The defense got younger, losing key starters such as Darius Slay, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, and Brandon Graham. To make up for their losses, Philly still has a platha of talent with Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith Jr., Zack Baun, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Reed Blankenship there.
The talent level on this team is astonishing, especially considering how many of its members are under 30 years old. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has constructed a roster that can last for years if they play their cards right.
Some people don't get as excited to see the same few teams play in the Super Bowl year after year, but the Eagles' big-play potential makes it hard not to enjoy them on the field. Vegas should be raising the odds on the Eagles winning the Super Bowl, as this team is just as good as last year's unit.
