The Philadelphia Eagles come away from week 7 in an identical place to the one they found themselves in last week – embarrassed with a slight sense of redemption after a fourth quarter rally. In terms of draft capital though, things continue to look promising.

Here’s a quick look at the current slate of picks and how they’ve moved after week 7.

Draft pick #2 (From MIA) – same
Draft pick #6 (PHI own) – 2
Draft pick #13 (From IND) +4

The Eagles may have been bullied by the Las Vegas Raiders, but it’s worked out quite well as far as their 2022 draft picks go. The loss moves them to 2-5, pushing their original first-round pick up 2 spots to 6th overall.

As far as Miami go, their 2nd overall pick remains as such after a tight loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The worry here is that two one-possession losses against poor teams should lead (in theory) to a big leap over the hump and a couple of wins, with the Dolphins still fighting right down to the wire. The back-end of their schedule is a lot more friendly than the opening stanza, just like that of Philadelphia’s, and the Dolphins seem closer to a win than the Eagles right now.

The Colts were able to eek out a big SNF win over the Niners thanks to a big game from Jonathan Taylor. Carson Wentz did what Carson Wentz does best, show some flashes of pure brilliance while making you wince moments later. The Colts really do look like the most volatile of the three teams right now. They could very easily ignite a winning streak and push for the playoffs, and in the same breath fall apart.

The main thing is that the team stays competitive enough for Carson Wentz to play, while also remaining healthy enough to do so. As things stand, he’s played in 455 snaps (98% of the offense total up to this point), and that should safely continue to a point where that second-round pick gently transforms into a mid-first rounder.

The 2022 outlook is encouraging regardless of how frustrating the current situation may look. The Eagles are tracking well to have at least two top-10 picks. Whether or not they’ll need them to remedy a QB dilemma is another issue entirely.
