Falcons' Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) on track to miss Patriots game?

The Atlanta Falcons dropped to 4-5 on the season via Sunday's 43-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys and had injury added to that insult when leading ball-carrier and fantasy-football breakout star Cordarrelle Patterson went down with what was later reported to be an ankle sprain that could sideline him for multiple weeks.

Patterson was limited in practice Monday, and Scott Bair of the Falcons' website notes that status remained unchanged as of Tuesday, two days before Atlanta hosts the 6-4 New England Patriots on Thursday night.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Monday that Patterson will likely miss at least Thursday's game. The Falcons have not, however, yet officially ruled him out for the prime-time showdown.

Per ESPN stats, Patterson leads the Falcons with 303 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 77 carries. He is also responsible for a team-best five receiving scores with 39 total catches for 473 yards.

If Patterson doesn't play Thursday, Wayne Gallman and Mike Davis would likely split backfield duties against New England. Gallman rushed for 55 yards on 15 attempts against Dallas, while Davis added 18 yards on four carries.
