Fireman Ed to return to role to lead Jets chant once more

Iconic New York Jets fan Fireman Ed is once again taking up the role in leading the famous Jets chant for the team’s home opener.

Fireman Ed, real name Ed Anzalone, says he is coming out of “retirement” to lead the chant and give an “old-school jump start” to festivities Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

The “J-E-T-S!” cheer will be back at MetLife tomorrow. Legendary Fireman Ed, who “retired” from role in 2012, tells ESPN he will dust off his helmet + 42 jersey for #Jets home opener. Wants provide an “old-school jump start” in a one-day cameo, starting 30 mins before kickoff.

As you can see, Sam Darnold is just bringing everyone out of the woodwork. Fireman Ed hasn’t done this regularly since 2012 due to some negative interactions with other fans, but this won’t be the first time he’s returned to action on a one-off basis. Victory is certainly assured now.
