The jury is still out on whether Tua Tagovailoa will be the franchise quarterback the Miami Dolphins have sought out since Dan Marino retired.

His performance over his first two seasons has received mixed reviews because of consistency issues.

However, his game is trending in a positive direction after the team’s monumental turnaround last season.

After a 1-7 start, Tagovailoa helped engineer a strong second half for the Dolphins which helped them finish with a respectable 9-8 record.

Football experts have seen some improvement in his game, especially with his confidence.

But with the offseason moves done by the Dolphins, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III predicts a successful 2022 for Tagovailoa.

Griffin tweeted, “Tua will make a BIG LEAP this year because the @MiamiDolphins set him up for success better than any other young QB. Surrounded by playmakers like Tyreek, Jaylen Waddle, Cedrick Wilson, and Mike Gesicki, IMPROVED PROTECTION and a stable of running backs to show the NFL who he is.”

No Excuse For Tagovailoa To Fail

In other words, the Dolphins built their roster for Tagovailoa to succeed.

They traded for All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill and will have him line up with Waddle and Wilson.

More importantly, the Dolphins also signed Terron Armstead and Connor Williams to solidify the pocket around him.

That protection should give Tua enough time to find his receivers downfield and execute flawless passes.

Therefore, he should be able to do something with this squad if he wants to retain his job.

Otherwise, the Tom Brady-to-Miami talks will resurface, especially after Tampa Bay Times reporter Rick Stroud did not rule out that possibility.

With a roster as talented as this, anything short of a postseason berth will be a disappointment for Tagovailoa and the Dolphins.
