Former Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III seeking parole for fatal 2021 crash

Former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III is now seeking his release on parole as he serves a three to 10-year prison sentence for his role in a 2021 car crash that killed a 23-year-old woman and her dog.

In November 2021, Ruggs was allegedly driving over 125 miles per hour with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit. He went on to collide with a car driven by 23-year-old Tina Tintor.

In 2023, he pleaded guilty to DUI resulting in death and one count of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. As he’ll soon be eligible for parole, he’s now going through the first steps of requesting release.

He spoke to the Nevada Board of Parole earlier this week to plead his case.

“Not a minute goes by where I don’t think of the pain I caused her family, her friends and the Las Vegas community,” Ruggs said. “I’m a religious person and pray for her family daily.”

At the time of the crash, he was in his second year with the Raiders and was having a solid sophomore season through seven games. The team went on to release him on the day of the crash.

The Nevada Board of Parole is now expected to have a decision on Ruggs’ case by June 14, and he could be released as early as August 5 if he’s granted parole.

The 27-year-old said last summer that he would be interested in pursuing a return to the NFL, but it’s unclear whether the league would give him clearance to come back.
