The New York Giants are entering a new chapter as Brian Daboll was fired as the team's head coach on Monday.
The Giants dropped to 2-8 on the season after a 24-20 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Quarterback Jaxson Dart sustained a concussion, and Daboll has drawn criticism for the way he handled Dart's latest injury.
In Week 11, the Giants have a tough test at home against the Green Bay Packers, and things won't get easier with the Detroit Lions and New England Patriots on the road before a much-needed Week 14 bye.
Daboll had expressed concern for Dart after the loss to the Bears. On Wednesday, interim head coach Mike Kafka revealed that Jameis Winston would get the nod against the Packers as Dart worked toward a return.
On Friday, Dart was spotted back at practice and looked to be in a good mood.
Kafka also added that Dart is "on track" with his recovery.
QB Jaxson Dart out on the field. He’s in the concussion protocol. Coach Mike Kafka thinks he’s “on track” with where he’s supposed to be in the protocol.

However, the Giants made it official regarding the rookie's status, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
"The Giants officially ruled out QB Jaxson Dart (concussion), WR Darius Slayton (hamstring) and OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux (shoulder) for Sunday's game vs. Green Bay."

Dart was selected No. 25 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft but originally was the backup to veteran Russell Wilson.
He quickly became the starter in Week 4 and has thrown for 1,417 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions, with another seven scores on the ground.
In the loss to the Bears, Wilson replaced Dart and went just 3-of-7 for 45 yards, and it didn't take long for Kafka to name Winston as the starter over Wilson.
If things continue to trend in the right direction, Dart could return in Week 12.
