Giants to interview Bills' Brian Daboll, Leslie Frazier this weekend in Buffalo?

The New York Giants confirmed some expected news Friday and announced the hiring of Buffalo Bills assistant general manager Joe Schoen as their new general manager.

Schoen might not have to look far for Big Blue's next coach.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Giants will interview Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier regarding their opening at some point this weekend:

The Bills will face the Chiefs in Kansas City on Sunday, so logic suggests the discussions will occur Saturday.

After Giants co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch dismissed Joe Judge as head coach earlier this month, they vowed Big Blue's next general manager would "lead the effort to hire a new head coach." In Friday's official release, Schoen explained:

"My immediate focus is to hire a head coach, with who I will work in lockstep with to create a collaborative environment for our football operations. We will cast a wide net, it can be former head coaches, first-time head coaches but, more importantly, it has to be a person who possesses the ability to lead an organization and the ability to motivate and develop players."

Before the Giants announced the hiring of Schoen, they were linked in rumors and rumblings with Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, among other candidates. With Schoen now running the show, however, he should receive an opportunity to work off his list of prospects without any input from either Mara or Tisch as he moves toward selecting the next individual to guide the New York roster.
