Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor to attend MNF game to judge Cowboys' Micah Parsons

ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith stirred the pot recently, saying Cowboys outside linebacker Micah Parsons is "the second coming of Lawrence Taylor.” Now comes word that 'LT," a Pro Football Hall of Famer, plans to attend the Cowboys-Giants Monday night to see how Parsons compares.

Taylor, the former Giants star, dismisses the notion Parsons will approach his greatness.

“I don’t know who the best defensive player is,” Taylor said, per the New York Post. “But all I know is I’m always on the last page, of the last paragraph, of the last sentence when they say the greatest of all time. Until somebody tells me different, I own it.”

Comparisons between Parsons and Taylor have echoed throughout the week.

Pro Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe believes Taylor's presence means trouble for Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

“Ain’t no telling what Micah Parsons is going to do to you," Sharpe said Thursday on FS1’s "Undisputed."

Taylor is one of the greatest players in NFL history. He’s a member of the NFL’s 100th anniversary All-Time Team, won an NFL MVP (1986) and Defensive Player of the Year three times, and played in two Super Bowls.

Parsons, the NFL Rookie of the Year last season, is only in his second year. He has a long way to go before he can match Taylor's resume.

Parsons hasn't recorded a sack against the Giants, the only NFC East team he hasn't victimized. Perhaps Taylor’s presence will give him extra motivation.
