Henry Ruggs: Raiders definitely should have been in the playoffs

The Las Vegas Raiders looked like they were headed to the playoffs after starting the season 6-3. They even beat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-32 in Week 5.

However, things took a turn for the worse as the Raiders dropped five of their last seven games to finish 8-8, missing the playoffs for the fourth straight season.

Rookie wide receiver Henry Ruggs admitted he was disappointed with his first season in the NFL last week after he finished with 26 catches for 452 yards and two touchdowns. This week he echoed those thoughts while also saying the Raiders should have made the playoffs.

"I would never disrespect anyone in this league, but I feel like we definitely have the team, definitely have the pieces and if we put it together, we showed in that game that we can compete with anybody," Ruggs said, according to NBC Sports Bay Area. "I know that one thing we have to do is to stay consistent and focus on the little things and we can be a top contending team. We definitely should have been in the playoffs."

Consistency has been a big issue for the Raiders over the last two seasons. Even in 2019, the club started 6-4 before finishing 7-9. If the Raiders can find some consistency in 2021, maybe they'll make their much-anticipated return to the playoffs.
