Jets closing in on multi-year deal with Morgan Moses?

Moses started 96 consecutive games for Washington, going back to the start of the 2015 season. Last season, he shifted to left tackle for two games as Washington was plagued with injuries.

His release was shocking considering how well-liked Moses was. He had emerged as a vocal leader of the team. However, Washington head coach Ron Rivera said the team simply wanted to move in another direction.

Washington drafted Sam Cosmi out of Texas in the second round last month. Then, the team signed former Chicago Bears left tackle Charles Leno, Jr. With the addition of Cornelius Lucas, Moses became expendable.

Ironically, Moses visited with the Bears as well after his release. But, the Jets have been linked to him for quite some time.

Moses is most likely going to settle at right tackle, if he inks a deal with New York. He’d replace George Fant, who signed a three-year $27.6 million deal last year. Moses is viewed as an upgrade from Fant. He is much better blocking in the run game as well as pass blocking.

Last season, Moses played 1,065 offensive snaps. He allowed five sacks and committed six penalties. He received an 80.6 grade from Pro Football Focus. If signed, he’ll be tasked with protecting the strong side of No. 2 overall pick Zack Wilson and anchor the Jets new rushing attack.
