Jets to make a 'big trade' in offseason?

Jets 'expected to make a big trade' during offseason?

The New York Jets hold the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. They could use that pick to draft a new quarterback, or they could trade the pick and fully commit to Sam Darnold.

Either way, the team is going to make a move to be better in 2021. In fact, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Jets "are expected to make a big trade this offseason."

After the way Justin Fields played against Clemson on Friday, the Jets should be high on the Ohio State quarterback. The 21-year-old completed 22 of 28 passes for 385 yards and six touchdowns against one interception while also rushing for 42 yards.

It's hard to imagine New York would trade the second overall pick. However, trading Darnold wouldn't net the team any large assets. Schefter reported in October that NFL executives don't believe Darnold would net the Jets a first-round pick. He then reported in November that trading for the young quarterback would take a second- and fifth-round pick.

The best option for New York would be to hold onto the second overall pick and start fresh. Although a number of quarterback-needy teams could be willing to send the house in an effort to move up in the draft. We'll just have to wait and see.
