Jets sign pass-rusher Jacob Martin to three-year deal worth up to $16.5M

The New York Jets are reportedly adding to their pass-rushing unit on Thursday.

Martin is coming off of a 2021 campaign in which he set career-best marks in tackles (23), sacks (4.0) and passes defended (three). Martin also recorded a pair of forced fumbles, as he played in all 17 games for the Texans and started 14 of them.

Entering 2021, the 186th pick of the 2018 NFL Draft had never started more than one game in a season.

After being selected by the Seattle Seahawks in 2018, the 26-year-old spent his rookie season with the team, posting a still-career-high eight quarterback hits, as well as three sacks and two forced fumbles. In September 2019, Martin was traded to Houston with a future third-round pick and linebacker Barkevious Mingo in exchange for three-time Pro Bowler Jadeveon Clowney.

In three seasons with the Texans, Martin recorded 54 tackles, 16 quarterback hits and 10.5 sacks.
