John Harbaugh, Giants suffer roster blow before the season even starts

Head coach John Harbaugh and the New York Giants are entering their first season together, and there's plenty of excitement around what the seasoned coach will bring to this team.

The Giants held OTAs this week in East Rutherford, and one of the team's standouts suffered a serious injury that puts his season in jeopardy.

According to a report from Jordan Raanan of ESPN published on Friday, defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris tore his Achilles at Thursday's OTA workout and is now expected to miss the full 2026 season.

Losing Robertson-Harris is the last thing this team needs after trading Dexter Lawrence II to the Cincinnati Bengals, because it weakens the team's defensive line. Robertson-Harris was projected to start this season, and he was taking first-team reps at Thursday's practice before getting injured. But, in good news for the team, the Giants used their No. 5 overall pick to draft Arvell Reese, who will add strength to their defensive scheme.

Robertson-Harris started in 17 games for the Giants during the 2025 season and clocked 35 tackles, three for a loss, as well as six quarterback hits, according to NFL.com.

During OTAs on Thursday, Harbaugh also gave an update about wide receiver Malik Nabers and admitted that he doesn't know when Nabers will be able to return but that the "goal" is for him to take part in training camp and hopefully start the season.
