Julian Edelman takes shot at Bills, gives update on NFL future

Edelman praised Cincinnati for its undermanned divisional-round victory over his former AFC East rival Bills, who he dubbed the "three-time Super Bowl champs that never won a Super Bowl."

The actual three-time Super Bowl champion belittled Josh Allen and company because he disagreed with the media's portrayal of them as the team to beat in the NFL. "You gotta win a championship to be champion. You can't act like a champion without winning a championship," said Edelman. 

While Edelman conceded the Bills are the "big brother" to New England in the AFC East, he still called them his "little brother." His 14-2 career record against Buffalo backs up his claim.

After sharing various stories from his playing days, Edelman ended speculation about potentially coming out of retirement. (He answered, "we'll see," when asked back in June.)

"I'm done, boys," Edelman told the hosts. "You can't be two years out of the game coming in at 37 with knee braces and taped ankles thinking you're going to go out here and compete against these young bucks."

The former Kent State QB retired in 2021 after 12 seasons in New England, completing as impressive a career as a seventh-round pick could hope for.

In addition to being a three-time Super Bowl champion, Edelman was the MVP of Super Bowl LIII. He’s one of the all-time great postseason performers; his receiving yards (1,442) and receptions (118) rank second and third in playoff history, respectively.

Edelman's playing days may be over, but he's now an up-and-comer in the sports media world. He's a commentator on "Inside the NFL" and hosts a podcast, "Games with Names," with comedian Sam Morril.
