The durability concerns surrounding Kyler Gordon continue.
The Chicago Bears‘ nickel cornerback is currently sidelined during the start of voluntary organized team activities (OTAs) with another soft-tissue injury, according to Chicago Tribune reporter Brad Biggs.
This is the latest setback for Gordon, who has struggled to stay healthy in recent seasons. After signing a three-year contract extension worth roughly $40 million prior to the 2025 season, he appeared in just three regular-season games last year due to multiple soft-tissue issues (hamstring, calf, and groin).
The fact that Gordon is already dealing with a soft-tissue issue in May, before mandatory minicamp, is raising some eyebrows among Bears fans and insiders.
While OTAs are voluntary and the Bears have not placed any timeline on his return, this development adds to the growing questions about Gordon’s long-term availability as he enters a critical year in his new contract.
The Bears are hopeful he can get healthy and stay on the field in 2026, especially with Ben Johnson’s defense looking to take the next step. In the meantime, rookie Malik Muhammad and others will get extra reps at the nickel position.
