The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were excited to get wide receiver Mike Evans back in the lineup as they enter Week 7 on Monday night on the road against the Detroit Lions. However, things seemingly have gone from bad to worse as he suffered an injury and it is going to be interesting to see what this means for the Buccaneers as well as the veteran wide receiver. Let’s take a deeper dive into what happened and what it means for Evansd and the team going forward.
Mike Evans has been one of the pillars of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the course of his career, but it seems like he has been unable to escape the injury bug. He was making his return from a hamstring injury that landed him on Injured Reserve, but with about three minutes before halftime, another injury for Evans happened.
On a passing play where he went deep, quarterback Baker Mayfield targeted him and threw a pass. Evans extended to make the catch and left his feet on a diving attempt, but he failed to come down with the football and took a hard fall as he banged his head on the turf. Evans would remain on the turf for a few moments as trainers came to help him as he would walk off the field.
During the next drive, Evans was officially ruled out for the remainder of the Week 7 game against the Lions with a concussion and shoulder injury. He had struggled in the game before the injury as he did not record any catches on four targets. We do not know at this time how long the veteran wide receiver will be out for, but with their next game being Sunday on the road against the New Orleans Saints before their bye week, do not be surprised if the Buccaneers are cautious with the 32-year-old receiver going forward.
