Mitch Trubisky 'very confident' as starting quarterback for Bears

When Mitchell Trubisky lost his job as the Bears' starting quarterback in Week 3, many wondered if he was done as a starting QB in the NFL. But after Chicago lost 6 consecutive games with Nick Foles, Trubisky was given another opportunity. He's made good on that second chance, and the Bears are back in the playoff picture with back-to-back wins against the Texans and the Vikings.

Trubisky said that he was not worried about potentially losing his job again, admitting that he feels good as the starter and just wants to help the Bears win their final two games of the season.

"I feel very comfortable right now," Trubisky told Pro Football Talk. "I think we keep getting better each week as an offense, which is important. We're gaining confidence as a unit and right now, we're executing at a high rate, which helps consistency across the board. And we've been efficient. So I definitely feel comfortable. And I'm very confident with where we're at, mindset with the guys and how we're handling each week."

The offense has certainly improved with Trubisky under center, as the team has scored 30 or more points in three straight games. The Bears are currently just one game behind the Arizona Cardinals in the wildcard standings, so they still have a chance at the playoffs if Trubisky can extend his winning streak for two more weeks.

The real intrigue comes after the season, as Trubisky is set to become a free agent, and while he certainly won't be paid like an elite quarterback, he may have played well enough to earn himself a chance to start in Chicago or elsewhere in 2021.
