New Orleans Saints Fall to Steelers 20-10 in Pittsburgh

Coach Dennis Allen and the New Orleans Saints lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-10 on the road in week 10.

New Orleans Saints QB Andy Dalton turned the ball over two times late in the games against the steelers. The Saints defense showed up in the third quarter allowing zero points. Despite a great third quarter effort, the Saints were not able to move the ball on offense as they were shutout in the second half of the game.

The Saints were able to strike on offense in the second quarter with a touchdown by Juwan Johnson and a 44-yard field goal by Will Lutz.

The New Orleans Saints offense was not effective in Pittsburgh. Dalton threw for 17 of 27 with one touchdown and two interceptions. Saints Running back Alvin Kamara rushed 8 times for 26 yards only averaging 3.2 yards per carry. Juwan Johnson had five receptions for 44 yards and one touchdown.

New Orleans Saints Need Help on Offense

The New Orleans Saints offense is in dire need of help. The Saints only gained 186 yards on the road in the cold. The lack of offensive production has fans wondering who will be QB 1 next year.

Neither Dalton or Winston are the answer the Saints had hoped for and the only thing left to do is find a better veteran and develop a young QB who can run the Saints offense.

The Saints have a very talented backfield but its hard for them to break lose when opponents continue to stack the back. Saints running back Alvin Kamara has carried the ball 104 times this year and is averaging 4.3 yards per carry.

Defense Keeping Games Competitive

The Saints PJ Williams led the Saints nine tackles and two assists. The Saints gave up 379 yards and were not able to force a single turnover in Pittsburgh.

This season the Saints have relied heavily upon their defense to keep in games. Their performance in Pittsburgh was not what Saints fans wanted to on the road against a team who until today had only two wins.

The Saints have relied heavily on their defense all season. So far the Saints have been able to force opponents to turn the ball over 7 times.

How Will the Saints Finish the Season

Overall the New Orleans Saints are now 3-7 on the year and tied for last in the NFC South. The record does not reflect the effort of the Saints thus far this season. They lost a close game earlier this year with a missed field goal in London.

The Saints look to regroup and travel back to the big easy as they prepare to host Rams next Sunday.
