NFL fines Steelers, Mike Tomlin for COVID-19 protocol violations

The NFL came down particularly hard on the Las Vegas Raiders this week, fining them for COVID-19 protocol violations, which brought their total of fines related to the coronavirus to $1.2 million. They weren't the only team to receive punishment from the league this week, though.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been fined $250,000 for not wearing masks while head coach Mike Tomlin was fined $100,000 for also not wearing his mask on the sideline against the Baltimore Ravens last weekend, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Tomlin typically wears a neck gaiter with the Steelers logo on it, but it was around his neck multiple times during Pittsburgh's Week 8 win.

The Steelers entered into extensive COVID-19 protocols earlier this week after Ravens defensive back Marlon Humphrey tested positive for the virus just one day after the two teams met on the football field. Since Humphrey's positive result, the Steelers have returned all negative tests.

Pittsburgh has yet to place anyone on the Reserve/COVID-19 list during the regular season and no one from the staff has tested positive since the season began. They're set to take on the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
