The 8-4 Philadelphia Eagles are back in action on “Monday Night Football” to face off against the Los Angeles Chargers in a primetime Week 14 matchup. The defending champs are coming off a disappointing 24-25 loss to the Chicago Bears in their last game, marking their second consecutive defeat after losing to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12.

The Eagles are eager to get back to winning ways, and they fully intend on doing so at the expense of the 8-4 Chargers. L.A. is also coming off a win and, like Philly, is looking to cement its spot in the playoffs with five games remaining in the regular season.

The Eagles, however, received some news from the NFL about their Week 13 loss to the Bears. The league has made a decision on a couple of contentious incidents in the game and announced the resulting punishments.

There was no shortage of action between the Eagles and the Bears in their game at Lincoln Financial Field on Nov. 29. Chicago pulled off an upset against the champs in Philadelphia, resulting in one of the biggest wins of the season for the Bears.

Two players for Chicago have been punished for their actions in the game, though. The first of which is tight end Durham Smythe, who was involved in an incident at the 11:36 mark of the opening quarter. The 30-year-old, who is in his first season with the Bears after spending the first seven seasons of his career with the Miami Dolphins, has been fined $12,172 for unnecessary roughness against the Eagles. His low block violation was not flagged during the game, but the NFL Officiating Department reviewed the sequence and has decided to issue a retroactive fine for the Bears TE.

The second incident also happened in the first quarter. This time, it was offensive lineman Dornell Wright who was involved in a use of the helmet violation. Wright was not flagged for a penalty during the game either, but the NFL has issued a $23,186 fine to the former first-round pick for use of the helmet against the Eagles.

This is Wright’s second violation for impermissible use of the helmet. The former Tennessee Volunteers star was also penalized for a similar offense in 2023, resulting in a $21,180 fine.

Both decisions, along with all the other fines from Week 13, were announced on Saturday via the NFL’s gameday accountability report.

The Bears were in action on Sunday, but they saw their five-game winning streak snapped at the hands of their NFC North rivals, the Green Bay Packers, 28-21.
