The Chiefs received some crucial news from the Commanders game on Saturday before their Week 9 matchup against the Bills. This came in the form of the NFL’s gameday accountability update, which revealed the fines from Week 8’s round of games.

The NFL Officiating Department reviews every play from every game to identify potential violations by players. While the majority of plays do not require further action, there are certain incidents from games that are subject to retroactive fines.

The league announced on Saturday that two incidents from the Chiefs vs. Commanders game violated league protocol and were sanctioned accordingly.

Washington linebacker Frankie Luvu was fined $46,372 for a hip-drop tackle. Luvu tackled Chiefs tight end Noah Gray after a 15-yard gain, which was deemed unnecessary roughness.

The second infraction centered on Commanders defensive back Quan Martin, who was penalized for unnecessary roughness for a hit on a defenseless player in the third quarter. It resulted in a 15-yard penalty during the game and a fine of $11,572 for Martin.

Combined, the two Washington players were fined a total of $57,944 for their infractions against the Chiefs. No player from Kansas City was fined from the game.

The Commanders are back in action on Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks. The Chiefs, on the other hand, will kick off their matchup against the Bills from Arrowhead Stadium at 4:25 p.m. ET.
