Nick Foles looking forward to helping Mitchell Trubisky 'in any way possible'

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy named Mitchell Trubisky the team's starting quarterback on Sunday, which means Nick Foles will start the season as his backup.

Experts predicted that the roles would reverse when the Bears acquired Foles from the Jacksonville Jaguars during the offseason but a shortened offseason and lack of preseason games could've played a role in the Bears deciding to keep Trubisky at QB1.

Regardless, though, Foles now is prepared to help the team succeed in any way he can.

“I’ve just learned to embrace it the best I can through the ups and downs, so whatever wisdom I can give [Trubisky] as it pertains to the emotions of the game, as it pertains to the plays going into the game, the philosophy, the philosophy, the thought process, how you do third downs, how I think during games. So whatever it is, I look forward to helping him in any way possible,” Foles said, according to the team's website.

Foles' only major success at the NFL level came when he replaced an injured Carson Wentz and led the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl title. However, he's proven to be a solid backup in his eight-year career. The 31-year-old is 26-22, completing 61.9 % of his passes for 11,901 yards and 71 touchdowns against 35 interceptions.

If the Bears start failing, Foles may slot into the lineup, but until then, Trubisky will have to prove himself if he wants to remain a member of Chicago's organization.
