One bubble roster player may have just made his case to the Las Vegas Raiders on why he should make the cut

The NFL process is so that each team can see the roster bubble guys, or players in position battles, go against other NFL players in live game situations. This is to help the coaches evaluate talent better so that they can get their roster down from 90 players, to 53. In the Las Vegas Raiders' case, they need all three games.

This roster has a ton of position battles. Obviously, we all know about the main one -- two quarterbacks fighting for the starting spot for Week 1. And, both of them played well, too. There is also a battle for the last wide receiver spot on the roster. They can only keep so many, and yet, they have plenty of guys who can make it.

One guy I'd be watching for is DJ Turner, who had a stellar training camp.

“DJ Turner has really stood out,” said head coach Antonio Pierce during camp. “He’s made some plays downfield. Some sweeps, some handoffs, some special teams. He’s really picked up.”

He knows what he can do for this team. And, he's only getting better. He may not be a dude that many people know about, but Turner has improved drastically and made it known that he wants a role on the offense.

“Right now I feel like I’m taking a step forward and establishing a role in this offense,” said Turner during training camp. "Pieces are starting to come together. . . You can feel it with the more opportunities I get each and every practice. I feel like if I just keep making the most of them, I can develop into that role. Along with the special teams.

“Where I fit in, I feel like it’s perfect for me. As long as I’m on the top of my game, I feel like the sky’s the limit with that role. Not just always running downfield, just catching screens, but doing a bit of everything. I feel like if I hone in on it, I can fit in perfectly in this offense.”

Turner made a very nice play during the first half on Saturday in their first preseason game of the year against the Minnesota Vikings. Quarterback Gardner Minshew floated a ball to him, and put it right into his pocket. But, it was Turner that ran the route and got open for the 20-yard touchdown.

He's going to make it hard on the Raiders, and, who knows, from everything the team has seen, he may have already locked in his spot.
