PFF robs Eagles in plain sight with the latest update in their player rankings

The final verdict is in from Pro Football Focus, and after their latest update, it appears no Philadelphia Eagles players are making the top 10 of their players list.

PFF writers Dalton Wasserman and Trevor Sikkema have been conducting a list all week on the top 50 players in the NFL. Each day this week, they have released batches of 10 players at a time. Friday was the conclusion with 1-10 released.

How did the Eagles fare? Not bad. They had six players who landed in the top 50.

  • 11. Jordan Mailata, LT
  • 16. A.J. Brown, WR
  • 19. Lane Johnson, RT
  • 22. Saquon Barkley, RB
  • 45. Jalen Carter, DL
  • 50. Jalen Hurts, QB

One thing to note is that none of them are in the top 10. Is this the right call?

PFF leaves Eagles out of the top 10 players list for 2025

The one argument that will be brought up first is Barkley's 22nd ranking. PFF ranked Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry higher and had him ranked eighth.

This seems hard to believe, since Barkley was the one who ran for over 2,000 yards in the regular season, broke the NFL record for regular season and postseason rushing yards combined with 2,504, and won the AP Offensive Player of the Year award. His 22nd ranking felt low at the beginning, and still feels way too low now.

Mailata was the closest to getting into the top 10 as he was right at 11. The caveat to it is that PFF's highest-ranked offensive lineman was Mailata. Not bad for a guy who has never been selected for the Pro Bowl.

There has been a ton of heated debates regarding Hurts as an "elite" quarterback, but it feels like a massive win to see him in the top 50 at all. A lot of media experts don't think he should even be in the top 10 quarterbacks so it's nice to see him pick up a win.

Overall, the list isn't bad, but Barkley being left out of the top 10 and Henry getting the nod over him feels criminal. Someone needs to discuss how the NFL's leading rusher in 2024 can't even make it into the top 20.
