Possible LA Target Bill Belichick Interviews Elsewhere
Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Former New England Patriots head coach, general considered to be the greatest NFL head coach of all time, has conducted his first (announced) interview with a prospective next team, and it's not your Los Angeles Chargers.

Per Ben Morse of CNN, the eight-time Super Bowl champion (he won six titles as the head coach of the Pats in nine appearances, and two as an assistant coach behind Bill Parcells on the New York Giants) spoke with the Atlanta Falcons, the team whose soul he snatched during the 2017 Super Bowl with New England.

Beyond Belichick, the Falcons also have spoken with Baltimore Ravens assistant head coach/defensive line coach Anthony Weaver and defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, and Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.

Belichick has long been linked with the Chargers as a potential plug-and-play head coaching fit. He does not currently have an interview slated with Los Angeles, but one expects he'll do his due diligence, and Bolts star quarterback Justin Herbert is a talented-enough ace passer to warrant at least closer examination. Pundits have speculated that LA's divisional reality, as direct competitors with the perennially contending Kansas City Chiefs, could give some coaching targets pause.

That hasn't prevented LA from speaking with reigning CFP champion Jim Harbaugh, who just chatted with the club about the opening on Monday.
